More than a finished project.

At Crafted in Tandem, we believe every project should teach something new.

Rather than simply following a pattern, you'll build practical sewing skills that carry from one project to the next—helping every finished piece become a stepping stone toward greater confidence.

Beginner Skills

Level 1: Foundations

Focus: Confidence at the machine and core construction skills.

Designed for true beginners. No prior experience required.

What it Teaches: Straight seams, pressing, narrow hems, layering, turning, topstitching, basic curves, boxed corners, simple zippers and buttons

Example Projects: Muslin swaddles, burp clothes, bowl cozies, market totes, fabric baskets, beginner quilts, pillow covers, simple pouches

Intermediate Skills

Level 2: Building Skills

Focus: Structure, finishing, and functional details.

Builds on foundational skills while introducing structure and polish.

What it teaches: Binding (straight and through thickness), interfacing, casings and drawstrings, snaps and hardware, shaped projects, refined edge finishes, zipper accuracy.

Example Projects: table runners, placemats, aprons, wallets, bucket totes, storage baskets, zipper bags, nursing covers, kitchen textiles.

Level 3: Confident construction

Focus: complexity, precision, and multi-step assembly.

For makers ready to tackle detailed projects with confidence.

What it teaches: advanced zippers, multi-compartment construction, quilting, precision, curved piecing, hardware integration, layered organization, pattern interpretation.

Example Projects: crossbody bags, quilted runners, project bags, laptop sleeves, travel organizers, modern quilts, workshop-style builds.

Advanced Skills

Level 4: Mastery & Creative Independence

Focus: Advanced techniques, scale, and design fluency.

Encourages mastery, creativity, and independent problem-solving.

What it teaches: large-scale quilt planning, specialty techniques (applique, curved and foundation piecing), complex color strategy, texture play, improvisation, expert finishing.

Example Projects: designer quilt kits, specialty technique kits, signature quilt collections, mystery quilts and challenges.
